Description

The process... a reliable and more efficient biological removal of phosphorus contained in domestic and industrial wastewater using SBR technology.

Because of the need for reliable and more efficient biological phosphorus removal, ECO PROCESS & EQUIPMENT INTL inc. has developed and patented a new SBR process called Bio-P-SequencerTM which utilizes two (2) SBR reactors operating in series.

The first SBR operates in an anaerobic and is used as a "flow equalizer/organic fermenter" for all influent wastewater and its solid content. The prefermented wastewater is settled and the supernatant is transfert to the second SBR where it receives final treatment including nutrient removal. The process uses a "rapid feed" mode where the transfer pump energy is used for mixing purposes to initiate different anoxic and anaerobic reactions in the final SBR reactor.

Enhanced biological phosphorus removal is obtained due to the optimized reaction of the fermentative biomass in the first reactor and the control over the biological reactions throughout the whole particular treatment sequence. The Bio-P-SequencerTM concept has achieved up to 80 mg/L removal of the phosphorus load using biological means when applied to industrial wastewater. The same technology is applied to domestic wastewater to meet consistently effluent standards of 0.5 mg/L in phosphorus. The Bio-P-SequencerTM concept offers a complete treatment system for the wastewater and sludges.
