Domestic Wastewater
Municipality of Cardinal
The municipality of Cardinal constructed a new SBR plant in 1997 to treat its wastewater. The SBR technology, called BioSequencerTM, was provided by Eco Process. The system consist of two SBR reactors with motorized valves, influent distributors, fine bubble diffusers, Mobile CanterTM and the Biolog logicTM control program.
We are very pleased to report that this SBR technology has performed beyond our expectations since the start-up period producing reliable high quality effluent and constantly challenging a Zero Discharge in pollutants. This outstanding performance has been achieved even though our wastewater is very diluted with BOD's of 80mg/L during the dry flow period. During our wet periods, our wastewater dilution is typically increased by a factor of 2 reaching up to 5 time the dry flow condition for sustained periods.
Our BioSequencerTM system is installed inside a building and produced the following performance on a year round basis.
BOD5 of 1mg/L, SS of 1 mg/L, COD of 30mg/L, NH3 < 1 mg/L, NO3 < 5mg/L and Phos. < 0.6mg/L without any use of chemicals.
The Municipality of Cardinal is very pleased and satisfied with the performance of this plant and with the quality of the equipment provided by Eco Process and would not hesitate to recommend this type of SBR system for similar diluted domestic wastewater treatment applications.
