The Splash Island Water Park located on the outskirts of Manila was constructed in 1996 to cater for daily population of 12,000 people. The actual flow varies considerably from day to day and from a season to another as the population density is pretty much proportional with the good weather.
Our wastewater treatment plant was engineered, supplied and commissionned by Eco Process from Canada. It is a BioSequencerTM system and operates accordong to the principle of SEQUENCING BATCH REACTOR process. This technology has demonstrated its great flexibility to perform very well even through our highly variable flow conditions. The system consists of one equalization basin feeding one to four SBR reactors according to th seasonnal demand.
Although our flow conditions were grossly over-estimated in the original specifications, the BioSequencerTM system has been producing reliable quality effluent exceeding the DENR and LLDA effluent standards. On an average performance, our BOD5 is 5 mg/L, SS is 5 mg/L and O/G is 5 mg/L. Since, the BiosequencerTM was able to absorb all the backwash water generated by our pool filters.
Splash Island Water Park authority is very satisfied with the design, operation and performance of its BioSequencerTM and would not hesitate to recommend the same technology to other recreationnal parks.
