Testimony From a premium grade building
Utilizing a BioSequencer^TM system

    The Urban Bank Plaza, which serves as corporate headquarter to the Urban Bank Corp., was provided with a modern SBR treatment plant to treat the wastewater generated by th building occupancy. All sewers of the building are discharged by gravity into a BioSequencer^TM system located in the basement of the building. In that manner, the STP has to be designed to accomodate the main supporting structures of the building while providing the necessary access for all the equipment. ore, the STP had to be quite compact to fit into a limited area.

    The SBR technology was selected first for its space saving and secondly for its ability to treat efficiently the wastewater which is produced on a intermittent basis including very high peak flow periods. Over 75% of our wastewater is produced within a period of four hours per day only and the whole production is generated during nine hours per day only. No flow is generated during the evenings, nights and weekends. Our wastewater characterization differs from the normal municipal wastewater, as it is highly loaded with ammonia.

    Considering all these constraints, the BioSequencer^TM system was designed as a fully automated process that included in a comprehensive alarm system engineered to maintain the treatment performances regardless of most of the usual predictable failures. A modem is used to transfer the status of the events to our SBR Designer and Manufacturer, Eco Process for their occasional supervision and assistant. The system requires very little supervision and has been performing by itself in a very reliable way since the commissioning period.

    The BioSequencer^TM concept has also proven its great flexibility to perform well under important under-designed flow conditions (25% of the original specifications). In fact, the system is by far exceeding the DENR regulations, producing great effluent quality including BOD5< 10 mg/L, SS< 10 mg/L and O/G< 5 mg/L.

    The building management of the Urban Bank Plaza is satisfied with the performance of this STP and expects it to meet more stringent requirement of the future. In that manner, we believe that the investment into the BioSequencer^TM system was good and sound decision on our part and we would recommend this system to other buildings with similar environment problems.
