A hybrid aeration system consisting of a jet motive pump recirculating the mixed liquor through a manifold pipe equipped with calibrated venturi and an independent air pressure source. The mixing manifold is assembled with an aeration header through appropriate connections. The system can mix the content of the reactor without the assistance of air, forcing its biomass through anoxic and anaerobic conditions as may be required by specific treatment sequences (for nutrient removal for example). When aerobic environment is required, an air blower is started to provide pressurized aeration to the water jet system generating fine bubble aeration. The AirJet system was developed in the hydraulic laboratory of the University of Montreal by the Eco Process research team. This development was supported by the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). It is commercialized since 1989. |
