The municipal wastewater treatment plant serving of the Town of Rockland was constructed in 1996-97 and finally commissioned in 1998. This plant is a Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) system and was built as a part of a turnkey project. The Ontario Clean Water Agency, a provincial Crown Corporation has been retained by the municipality as the Operating Authority for this facility.
Eco Process provided the process technology and equipment. These include the uniform influent distributor (UIDTM), the jet aeration system (AirJetTM), the surface decanters (SwingCanterTM), the uniform sludge collector (USCTM) and the logic controls panel with the process operation programming. Eco Process also provided the final commissioning and the necessary technical support until all the equipment and the controls performed to the client's satisfaction throughout each season of the year.
The facility was designed with three (3) reactors to handle an average dry weather flow (ADWF) of 6,800 m3/d loaded with typical BOD of and SS of 180mg/L during the dry season. During the wet weather flow periods (WWFP), the plant is designed to handle up to 17,340 m3/d. Presently, our plant receives no more than half of the design flow. This is the reason why we currently operate two (2) reactors only.
The Eco Process equipment generally meets environmental objectives of 15 mg/L for BOD5 and SS and 1.0 mg/L for Pt. Average effluent concentration limits range from 5 - 15 mg/L for BOD5 and SS and 0.4-0.6 mg/L for Pt with an Alum dosage of about 30 mg/L.
We are generally satisfied with the process and equipment performances and with the services provided by Eco Process & Equipment Intl. inc. and would recommend this SBR process to other municipalities.
MUNICIPALITY OPERATING CURVECO BAR SCREEN SYSTEM
In 1995, the Town of Repentigny has built its wastewater treatment plant along the shore of the St. Lawrence River. This plant was designed around physical / chemical process including a pre-treatment station and an anaerobic sludge digestion system. The plant serves a population of 56,000 inhabitants and is sized to operate with an average flow of 43,000 m3/d with peak flow of 105,000 m3/d.
The pre-treatment station is equipped with two (2) Curveco mechanically cleaned curved bar screens as developed, designed and manufactured by Eco Process & Equipment Intl inc. Theses units are provided with a screw conveyor to transfer the solids into a bin. The whole system is operated through a control panel specially designed with logic control for automated operation . Each screen is sized to handle peak flows of 67,920 m3/d and is installed into a concrete channel of 1.6 m wide X 1.07 m deep.
Each screen is mechanically protected by a torque limitor and by other mechanical / electrical devices connected to alarms. A manual reversing operation of the cleaning arm is also provided in case of blockage. The automatic operation can be controlled by a timer or also by high water level. The bar rack is formed with curved bars spaced at 12.7 mm. The cleaning mechanism is actuated through a drive motor of 1.5 HP. The solids are mechanically raked off and allowed to fall into a box before being transported with the conveyor into the bin.
We are satisfied of the performance and the operation of these two (2) Curveco bar screens.
